BOOK GIVEAWAY

.
Win a book (or two!) of your choice. I have 2 Book Mooch points to give away. So all you Moochers out there, leave a comment here and tell me: what is the most obscure book in your inventory, that you fear will never be requested? The winner will be announced on monday, 4/28.

  1. My most obscure book would be The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill The First 200 Years by Jane Collins, a coffee table book my fiance inherited from his grandmother that neither of us know what to do with!

  2. I'd have to say the Cheap Eats in London book. I'm guessing it's pretty out of date.

  3. Well, it isn't obscure, but it is crappy. No one's ever going to request 'The Devil Wears Prada,' because no one wants to waste a point on such drivvel.

  4. My most obscure book is a book of political cartoons from France in the 1970s. It's probably a collector's item, but it's got sun damage on the cover. I bet no one will ever mooch it, but I haven't removed it, because, well, what else will I do with it?

  7. The strangest book I have in my inventory that I don't think anyone will ever request has to be 'Understanding The Human Genome Project'. Very exciting book ;)

  8. Trish: Book Mooch is an online book-swapping site. Basically, you list books you want to give away, send them to people, and get books from others in return. You can go here to learn more about it. Unfortunately, I can't award my Book Mooch points to anyone who's not in that system. If you set up an account, I'll be happy to include you in the drawing!

  9. I agree about The Devil Wears Prada ... mine is still sitting. Most obscure - Food Fights and Bedtime Battles - not one of the better parenting books I've ever read.

  10. I have several low-interest YA books and one adult book that'll never get mooched. Not because they're obscure, but because they're just not that good. The one that'll never go: Freeze Tag (Point). But like Dewey said, where else am I going to put it?

  11. My problem is actually that many of the books I want to get rid of aren't that obscure (like Crichton books and, also, Devil Wears Prada). The obscure ones are the ones that I like and keep in my library. And then I've got stuff on my wishlist like "SaxoGrammaticus: The History of the Danes" and "History of the Kings of England" which will probably never come up and, if they do they will probably be international and I won't have the points for them.

  12. Possibly a short book by Lou Andreas-Salomé, the 19th century Russian author known for her involvement with Nietzsche and the Vienna circle.

Mine would have to be "Not Without My Daughter" by Betty Mahmoody... not too obscure, but also a much older book that I don't think a lot of people would be interested in.

  14. I don't really have anything obscure on my inventory. Like others, I have a handful of books that probably won't ever be mooched. My SIL gave me some Heartsong Presents books--the Christian novel equivalent to Harlequins . . . I didn't read them and chose to list them instead. Goodness, one of the titles is The Mushroom Farmer's Wife. That doesn't sound very exciting to me!

This is a fun idea. Definitely the most obscure in my inventory is Anne Brécart Les Années de Verre. Its by a little known SWiss author and I suspect no one outside of Switzerland has heard of it.

  16. An action-adventure story called "Nathan's Run" by John Gilstrap. Found in a junk shop in Australia and brought to South Korea, it probably screamed "Remainder table!" 5 seconds after it rolled off the presses.

  17. A book by a local talk radio personality called Voice of Reason: Why The Left and Right are Wrong by Ronn Owens. :-)
