There's another book I've seen reviews on about a mother whose small child goes missing- I think that one would be so close to home- fear what if it happened to me? -I can't face reading it.

Bermudaonion- I know what you mean. I almost didn't pick it up, but once I did, it was hard to put down.Jeanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02270303640902731044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-38348077187892291722009-08-02T09:05:25.881-04:002009-08-02T09:05:25.881-04:00Wow, what a heartbreaking book. It may be well written, but I just don't think it's something I want to read about.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-9494247061803738882009-08-02T05:49:18.337-04:002009-08-02T05:49:18.337-04:00These types of stories break my heart, because I a...These types of stories break my heart, because I always look at the child and think "that is someone's son or daughter" and "what if that happened to my kids?". How terrible would it be to see your baby suffering and not be able to do anything about it? I would close the book scared to death that the suicide attempt would happen again! I guess I'm too used to reading memoirs written at the end of someone's life, looking back, or novels for that matter, all neatly wrapped up. Life isn't like that...

I should say this book is more a snapshot of what that recovery time was like for him. It is a hard read.Jeanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02270303640902731044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-56785589378766913812009-08-02T00:26:05.657-04:002009-08-02T00:26:05.657-04:00I always wonder how people manage to shape the sto...I always wonder how people manage to shape the stories of their depression/other mental illness into a story for memoirs like this. I don't understand how anything can be resolved, when it's a story of ongoing mental illness. This one sounds brutal - not sure I'd be able to read it.Jennyhttp://jennysbooks.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
