After all, they did things like beat the mule over the head with a stick to make him do what they wanted.Jeanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02270303640902731044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-1966165028285588862008-03-31T19:46:00.000-04:002008-03-31T19:46:00.000-04:00jeane,I use to use Old Yeller with 5/6th grade stu...jeane,

I use to use Old Yeller with 5/6th grade students. They would always get very upset, even angry, about the ending, even when I pointed out to them that the narrator told them the dog would die in the very first paragraph of the book.

JamesAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06906212382849291562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-92075549075179733242008-03-30T04:01:00.000-04:002008-03-30T04:01:00.000-04:00I'm with you Lezlie,I am a big book baby and I cry...I'm with you Lezlie,

I am a big book baby and I cry over all kinds of things...animals really get me though, oh and children that are not treated well, and people who are ill or facing a crisis. I'm sure I could go on and on but I cried so hard when I read "Old Yeller" and I remember crying during "Where the Red Fern Grows".

Thinking of it now is making me a little teary-eyed Park Avenue Princesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18285555826662528619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-49678332894272109122008-03-29T12:40:00.000-04:002008-03-29T12:40:00.000-04:00You're brave. It was a beautiful, amazing book, but I will never read it again. Nor will I ever touch The Yearing, Old Yeller, The Red Pony, etc., etc. I'm a huge sissy. :-)

LezlieLezliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05747969193923246804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014696560401110515.post-31017894387134299442008-03-28T23:52:00.000-04:002008-03-28T23:52:00.000-04:00I haven't read the book, but I have seen the movie...I haven't read the book, but I have seen the movie several times.
