deer crossing

Yesterday my youngest pestered me to do a puzzle with her. She quit as soon as the border was assembled but I kept going. Even though this is another cheap papercity puzzle, I found I rather liked it. There's enough texture and color going on, and avoiding use of the box picture as a reference made it just challenging enough. 500 pieces.
I miss reading however. Too many other projects lately and my current book is one of those put-yourself-to-sleep kind of reads. I like it, but it's tedious. I hope to finish it soon and get to something a bit more enjoyable.

  1. My mom, sister, and I love to do jigsaw puzzles. We did a shaped puzzle while I was at my mom's last week and it was quite a fun challenge.

  2. I haven't done a puzzle in ages.

  3. Love how you show the progression! Elle really enjoys puzzles but we haven't attempted anything this difficult. I'm continually teaching her that a flat side means that it's an edge and cannot be forced into the middle and that two flat sides means it goes in a corner. Ha!

I think we've talked about this before...you don't listen to audiobooks do you? Hard to do with the littles around but this would be the perfect activity for keeping busy while listening!

  4. It took many repetitions to get her to understand what "edges" meant. I usually sort those out of the rest and assemble that part first, so it's established. We have one 300 piece puzzle of animated characters she really likes doing with me, anything else I end up finishing alone. But I don't mind- I like puzzles! Her initial enthusiasm gives me an excuse to start a new one...
