Random complete!

I've finished my first reading challenge of the year - the Random Reading one hosted by Caribousmom. In letting random.org pick my reads, I never knew what was coming next and read several books I probably would have let gather dust on my shelf for a long time otherwise. I read twelve books for the challenge

Here's the books I read that I really enjoyed and plan on keeping:
Anybody Can Do Anything by Betty MacDonald
Growing and Displaying Bonsai by Lewis and Sutherland
Conversations with Amber by Gladys Taber
Digging Deep by Fran Sorin
A Year in the Life of a Rose by Rayford Clayton Reddell
Blackbird by Jennifer Lauck
Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana

These are the ones I didn't fall in love with; they'll be moving on to new owners:
All Over but the Shoutin' by Rick Bragg
The Three Legged Stallion by Siegfried Kra
The Wild Mare by Glenn Balch
The Young Grizzly by Paige Dixon
Noble Friends by Pamela Dickson

The challenge was a lot of fun. I hope Caribousmom hosts it again next year, I'll be sure to participate again!

  1. That's a cool challenge. It is very similar to the way I read anyway - alternating lots of different genres. And I force myself to give things I might not normally be interested in a shot - because you never know when you'll be surprised.

I loved Bragg's book - I'm sorry it wasn't your cup of tea. But you never know until you give it a go, right?

  2. Ah, well, I didn't dislike Bragg's book, I thought it was quite good. I just don't think I'll be reading it again. I save space on my shelves for the books I really really love and know I want to read time and time again. That one was at the point of: a good book, I heartily recommend it; but I probably won't read it a second time.

  3. Congratulations on finishing! I'm so impressed by people who can actually let random.org choose their next read - I know I'd balk at whatever they picked and just go on and read exactly what I felt like. :p
